Lawrence Hwang started his career at the National Cancer Institute as a Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) Fellow in 2008 with the Office of the Associate Director (OAD) in the Surveillance Research Program (SRP). In August of 2009, he transitioned to a Kelly Government Solutions Contractor position to support the communications activities of SRP. His primary responsibility is to develop, write print, and disseminate a variety of media. These include program newsletters, flyers, lay publications, websites, graphics, reports, presentations, grant applications, factsheets, monographs, and brochures. Mr. Hwang also acts as a liaison between SRP and other external contractors to ensure that SRP-related communications initiatives are completed and disseminated in a timely fashion.
Prior to arriving at NCI, Mr. Hwang worked as a Preventive Medicine Intern at the New York State Office for the Aging in Albany, NY. He holds a Master of Public Health Degree in Social Behavior and Community Health Research from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo.
